Mothers Day Launch
It’s here my first ever Mothers Day launch and I hope you’re as excited as I am. My primary aim when designing this collection was to create prints that really connected with mamas, a hug on the wall if you will, drawing from experiences with my own mum and mum-in-law that I hold close to my heart. These prints are to be hung up as daily reminders to mums everywhere of just how much you mean to us.
So let’s get started, I began with personalised prints as I felt these would add that extra element of thoughtfulness to the gifts. I don’t know a mum out there who wouldn’t be appreciative of a beautiful bunch of flowers, the inspiration for my first print, ‘Family Birthday Flora Print’. Simply pick the flower for each person’s birthday month, for example, mine’s in August so I’d have the sunflower, my sisters is in February so she’d have the snowdrop, etc. Growing up my mum used to tell us what flowers our birthday months were which is what gave me the idea to begin with, her mum being a champion flower arranger back in her day and my dad teaching us how to press flowers growing up makes this print one of my favourites in the collection, with the added bonus that it’ll last a lot longer than a bouquet of flowers too.
Next, we have the ‘Family Star Sign Print’, whether just for fun or for hardcore horoscope lovers, this print adds a little spice to the mix. As with the flora print, each family member is assigned their corresponding star sign illustration which I will then turn into a custom print. I love this one in particular as it can act as a warning to guests just what they’re in for when stepping through your front door haha.
The final personalised print of the collection is the ‘Family Shoe’ print. I had a lot of fun with this one, playfully stereotyping each shoe to hopefully bring a real laugh to each individual. From ‘Tik Tok viral roller skate’ to ‘basic bitch trainer’ I’d love to say I’m ‘night on the town high heel stiletto’ but I think I’m more of a ‘ugly sandal’.
The next print duos were designed based on things that remind me of my mum and mother-in-law. I’m sure you’ll be able to relate to some of these too, they’re available to purchase as a duo or as single prints.
Growing up one of my favourite memories was dancing in the kitchen with my mum and sister while baking. The radio would be on or mum would get her old records on the record player and we’d be wiggling our butts and giggling while trying to eat as much raw cake mixture as possible. This retro radio print combo takes me back to those days as if it were yesterday.
Living next-door and bubbling up with my mum in law there’s never a bad time to drop by for a gin. I can hear the glass cupboard opening before even getting to the kitchen, as if she’s read my mind. This print combo reminds me of her and all the fun times we have together while cooking or just having a good old natter.
I designed this final duo in honor of my mums absolute love for baths, whenever peace and quiet is needed a bath is the answer, whenever it’s too cold in the house a bath will do the trick whenever she’s slightly over-indulged on wine the bath is where she’ll be. It’s like her little spa retreat and I must admit she’s passed her addiction on to me now too. This print would make the perfect addition to a bathroom and is meant to signify that bit of me-time and relaxation that I can imagine every mum needs after doing one of/if not the hardest jobs on the planet.
These final quote prints were designed to offer little reminders around the house of how much your mum is loved and appreciated, so even during the hard times of lockdown there can be some light beaming through the house. The colours I use throughout my work has been chosen to uplift and warm the home and those in it which I hope you’ll feel when looking through this collection.
Leaving it on a silly note my final new Mother’s Day print to share is my ‘You Rock, Love your Fav Child’ I designed this playful art print just as a little joke between my sister and I. It drives my mum mad when we bicker over who’s her favourite so thought I’d leave this here as a little reminder hahaha. Love you really! XX
I hope you’ve enjoyed looking through this collection and learning more about the meaning and inspiration behind each print. Let me know in the comments below which is your fav and which you think your mum would like the most. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Lots of love,
Hannah XX
