Designing My First Souvenir Range For The National Horse Racing Museum
Hello! Long time no speak, how're you doing? Lots
of new projects currently in the works behind the scenes at Freya Niamh Design HQ and I'm so excited to finally share this one with you! My first souvenir product range for the National Horse Racing Museum in Newmarket, Suffolk.
I've been working on this collection for the past few months and feel so excited to see it all come to fruition. The range consists of a bookmark, notepad, tote bag, tea towel, two coasters, a greeting card, and wrapping paper and has been illustrated in a bright pink and cream colour palette which I think looks amazing together. I chose to go with a pattern as oppose to an illustration of the town of Newmarket to allow the artwork to be adapted with ease onto the various products but also meant I could include as many of the important details as possible.
Within the pattern I chose to pick out important landmarks and sculptures from around Newmarket along with race horses, equine fashion, saddles, boots, trophies, champagne, betting slips, racing attire, foliage, the Newmarket racecourse, and horse shoes for good luck. Focussing on the celebration of the rich culture of Newmarket and the museum in a bright and uplifting fashion.
The collection will be available exclusively in the National Horse Racing Museum’s gorgeous gift shop. First seeing the collection displayed gave me the widest smile the world has ever seen with the beautiful horse details to the bunting around the table it made me so excited for the future of Freya Niamh Design, who knows one day I may be displaying my products in my very own little brick and mortar boutique. A girl can dream.
Designing my first product range for another business has been the greatest learning experience. From colour matching various products for way longer than first expected to building relationships with manufacturers, researching new product ideas, and the overall orchestration of the full fulfilment journey. It’s been an invaluable experience of which I hope to continue to grow from.
This year has been my first real leap into wholesale, from exhibiting at Top Drawer in January to slowly building my list of stockists, I’ve learnt so much already and designing products for other businesses has brought me so much joy. A great way to grow my brand but also work with some fabulous clients and brands. I hope to do lots more in the future.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever visited the National Horse Racing Museum and which product is your favourite.
Lots of love, Hannah

Since I was born in Newmarket England and my cousins lived at Palace House, I spent many nights in there. I now live in the United states so I only wish that I could purchase these beautiful products online. I love that you incorporated the Clock Tower in your design.
